Made mostly from plastic bags, 10¢ is a shoe that explores the possibilities of using plastic as an alternative material in the construction of shoes. This is a proof of concept that presents a product that is fashionable, sustainable and eco-friendly.
10¢ is a replication of a pair of shoes, fabricated from recycled plastic bags. 10¢ experiments with fused plastic bags and combines them with other textiles to construct the upper of the shoe. The goal was to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional shoe that expresses the potential of plastic as an alternative for traditional materials currently used in softgoods. The shoes are geared towards the general public, but also targets those into fashion. It is easy to be materialistic and captured by novel or trendy things, so 10¢ creates awareness for plastic recycling by showing that it is possible to create a recycled product that is fashionable and sustainable.
