Haptic Aura
Under the guidance of Daniel Leithinger and the CU SPUR program, the purpose of this project was to test if users could perceive the functionality of a control through mid-air haptic sensations?
This prototype interface was created to see if mid-air haptics can augment a physical object and indicate its functionality. The interface uses 9 jets of air that shoot out from both the knob and button. These air jets have several different animations that are used to influence the users interaction with the interface. The knob and button were both 3D Printed and outfitted with Mechamagnets from Clement Zheng. They were designed to look identical in order to force the user to rely on the mid-air haptics.
